Sateen jälkeen
Työskentelin Black Church Print Studion residenssitaiteilijana kuukauden. Residenssiaika oli minulle monin tavoin merkityksellinen ja tärkeä. Ympäristössä kulkeminen, eläytyminen, tarkkailu ja tutkiminen yhdistettynä työhöni visuaalisena taiteilijana ympäristön kokemuksiin pohjautuen, siitä oli muotoutunut perusta taiteilijuudelle kuin myös tavalle elää taiteilijana.
Residenssijakson aikana työskentelin neljän eri teossarjan parissa. Kaksi niistä olen nimennyt: Sateen jälkeen. Dublinin ilmasto vaihteli nopeasti mutta kosteus prosentti tuntui pysyvän korkealla. Vanhat havupuut seisoivat puistoissa ja teiden laidoilla, paljon puhuvina, mustina ja vahvoina. Matalan kaupungin luonto kutsui poikkeamaan reiteiltä ja seuraamaan solisevia ojia ja syvään kumartavia pientareita.
After the Rain
I worked as an artist in residence at Black Church Print Studio for a month. The residency was meaningful and important to me in many ways. Walking around the environment, empathizing, observing and exploring, combined with my work as a visual artist based on the experiences of the environment, had formed a foundation for my artistry and also for my way of living as an artist.
During the residency period, I worked on four different series of works. I have named two of them: After the Rain. Dublin’s climate changed rapidly but the humidity percentage seemed to remain high. Old conifers stood in parks and on the sides of the roads, speaking volumes, black and strong. The nature of the low-lying city invited me to deviate from the paths and follow the gurgling ditches and deeply bowing embankments.
