Työskentelin taidekeskus Mältinrannan grafiikanpajalla Aili ja Allan Salon työskentelystipendillä vuonna 2017. Pajalla syntyivät muun muassa teossarjat Fall ja Lähellä 2.
Työskentelyjakso teemat ovat lähtöisin paikan kokemuksesta sekä ihmisen ja luonnon suhteesta. Moni asia, kuten oma mielentilani, minua ympäröivät ihmiset ja elämä yleensä, vaikuttavat myös osaltaan siihen minkälaisiin asioihin huomioni hakeutuu. Pajalla tein töitä projektipohjaisesti; minulla on aika ja paikka, jotka määrittelivät työskentelyäni.
Syksyllä pitää päästää irti kesän lämmöstä ja vehreydestä. Prosessia seuraa kuitenkin elämän hidastuminen, rauhoitutaan talveen, annetaan tilaa uudelle ja kerätään voimaa. Ympäristössä värit voimistuvat hetkellisesti, kasvit ja puut varastoivat voimansa talteen. Maisemissa voimakkaat ja jyrkät vastakohdat korostuvat.
Monotypia tekniikkana ilmentää hienolla tavalla liikettä ja liikesarjoja, se myös mahdollistaa ekspressiivisen maalauksen ja perinteisen painomenetelmän yhdistämisen; vedos rakentaa aina seuraavaa, toisinaan muodostaen sarjan ja jatkumon vedosten välille. Työskennellessäni en ole käyttänyt apuna luonnoksia tai suoraa havaintoa, enkä näin ollen pyrikään esittävyyteen, vaan välittämään kokemuksen, tunteen.
I worked at the Mältinranta Art Center’s graphic design workshop with an Aili and Allan Salo working scholarship in 2017. The workshop produced, among other things, the work series Fall and Lähellä 2.
The themes of the work period are derived from the experience of the place and the relationship between humans and nature. Many things, such as my own state of mind, the people around me and life in general, also contribute to the kind of things I focus on. At the workshop, I worked on projects; I have a time and place that defined my work.
In autumn, you have to let go of the warmth and greenery of summer. However, the process is followed by a slowdown in life, we calm down for winter, make room for the new and gather strength. The colors in the environment become stronger for a moment, plants and trees store up their strength. Strong and sharp contrasts are emphasized in the landscapes.
Monotype as a technique beautifully expresses movement and series of movements, it also allows for the combination of expressive painting and traditional printing methods; a print always builds on the next, sometimes forming a series and continuum between prints. In my work, I have not used sketches or direct observation as an aid, and therefore I do not strive for representation, but rather to convey experience, emotion.
